According to law enforcement conclusions, the cause of death was severe bodily injuries — a closed blunt torso injury, multiple rib fractures, lung and pleura damage.

In December 2024, it became known that #Matveyev died in captivity. His body was returned to #Ukraine during repatriation and buried in #Bucha, #Kyiv region.
