Revealed: Reform UK Matt Goodwin’s Academic Ties to Rebranded Nazi Eugenics Front

Reform’s Gorton and Denton candidate, who has said that genetics will expose the “inherent differences between groups” has links to multiple organisations tied to discredited racist pseudoscience

Matthew Goodwin, Reform UK’s candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election in Greater Manchester, holds a visiting professorship at a university centre whose network includes the front publication for a reconstituted Nazi eugenics foundation. Byline Times can reveal that Goodwin has actively defended, promoted and cited key figures within the network, which encompasses at least five organisations tied to discredited racist pseudoscience.

Reform wants to put public unions ‘under review’, by-election candidate has said

Comments late last year indicate challenges Farage faces in courting working-class voters

Reform UK’s candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election has said the party would put public sector unions “under review” if it came to power, in a sign of the challenges Nigel Farage faces as he seeks to court working-class voters.

“[Reform] will place public sector trade unions under review,” Matthew Goodwin said during a speech in early December, before the by-election had been called, at which he set out a wide-ranging policy vision for a Reform government to “fix broken Britain”.

Absolutely appalling ground game by Reform, they put up some chancer from the South who seems afraid of the constituency and it's residents.

@gilgwath

You make a point that was also made in response back in 2022 when the original author of this idea, #PaulMorland, wrote it in the Sunday Times; garnering a significant backlash but also, more than 3 years down the line, giving #ReformUKLtd the cover of 'but-but-but an academic wrote this!'.

This is not actually original thought on #MatthewGoodwin 's part.

Apparently, from the first time that this all came up back in 2022, you and some cat named Kat could have got together on the subject of #QuestionHeadlines .

Why Paul Morland's Sunday Times piece went viral

'Should we tax the childless?' Paul Morland’s viral Sunday Times piece shows it’s easier to blame women than make meaningful change.

If you want to understand Reform's candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, you won't do better than this piece in Prospect magazine from last summer.

"Goodwin now cuts a rather pathetic figure, his ideological trajectory recalling the American journalist Dorothy Thompson’s description of the “saturnine man” in her 1941 Harper’s essay “Who Goes Nazi?”: “He has an ambition, bitter and burning. It is to rise to such an eminence that no one can ever again humiliate him”." https://web.archive.org/web/20250716052557/https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/philosophy/intellectuals-and-ideas/70456/matthew-goodwin-reform-and-the-politics-of-resentment

"What Gorton and Denton really needed was a local man, said Lee. ... Sadly, though, Reform didn’t have any local people who were suitable. So this part of Greater Manchester was going to have to do with someone who had lived there a while ago. Someone who had left his job at the University of Kent and retreated to London to be a media gobshite for GB News. Step forward, Matt Goodwin."
