AnarchoNinaAnalyzesAt this point, we've now watched so many elected Democrat officials arrested or detained by regime-loyal security forces for nonviolently opposing Trump's fascist mass deportation project, that I could probably transform posts like this into a form letter. In case you hadn't heard, the Gestapo arrested NYC Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander on Tuesday, and briefly attempted to charge him with obstruction and assaulting a federal agent. Would you be surprised to learn that the Gestapo lied and Lander, a vaguely-progressive Democrat didn't assault anyone, it's unclear if he was even breaking a law, and the entire incident was captured on video? Well after the last three times the Gestapo or Trumenreich representatives lied about filmed political intimidation tactics against Democratic Mayor Ras Baraka, Democratic Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, or Democratic US Senator Alex Padilla, you probably shouldn't be.

'This Is Fascism': NYC Comptroller Brad Lander Arrested by ICE at an Immigration Court
"A video shared on Lander's nongovernment X account shows him holding on to a man and asking multiple times for officials to furnish a warrant. "I will let go when you show me the judicial warrant," Lander says in the video.
Lander is then separated from the man and pushed toward a wall and handcuffed. "You don't have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens," Lander says in the video. The video shows Lander then being escorted into an elevator."
As I alluded to at the top of this post, Lander has been released from custody, and the charges against him have been dropped. Apparently not even a crooked fascist Attorney General like Pam Bondi wants to argue that ICE agents manhandling a NYC Comptroller on film is actually assault *against* the Gestapo. It is however important to ask here if, had what I can only describe as the assault and confinement of Brad Lander not been captured on film, would the regime have continued to insist he assaulted an ICE pig? Who knows, but given how bullshit the charge was in the first place, I'm not willing to bet against it.
Now, there are those who will argue that Lander isn't legally in the right to have tried to warrant-check the Gestapo, because the law allows ICE pigs to kidnap migrants in public places without one, and Trump's unhinged DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has ended what was only a guideline to not consider courthouses a valid place to abduct brown people for (potentially) not having papers. This is unfortunately true, but there is a vast discrepancy between asking to see a judicial warrant because you don't understand our recently-altered fascist immigration guidelines, and accusations that refusing to let go of someone the Gestapo wanted to kidnap, amounts to assaulting a federal officer. Furthermore, there is a difference between legally right, and morally right; I'd be willing to wager that not one person who has ever cast a vote for Brad Lander at any level of government cares that nazi games of Simon Says allow the Gestapo to do this, and they almost certainly support Lander's opposition to Trump's mass deportation tactics, and the Comptroller's willingness to put his body on the line to try and stop this nazi bullshit. Regardless of what Noem's guidelines say, everyone who isn't a literal fucking fascist knows that Brad Lander is not the criminal in this story.
So all's well that ends well? Absolutely not. As I've discussed in the past, the fascist Trumpenreich regime is actively working to criminalize its political opposition, and acclimatize the American public to images of Democratic officials being led away in handcuffs for opposing the mighty God Emperor Trump or his fascist agenda. This isn't about conviction rates, or whether or not any of these cases go to trial; although I should point out that the absurd assault charges against Rep. LaMonica McIver are still outstanding. This is about sending a message to both Democrat politicians opposing the fascist mass deportation program, and the American people, and that message is "do not cross the Swine Emperor, and anyone who does is definitely a criminal."
A fascist dictatorship is not birthed from even a faux democracy like ours overnight. There is an installation process that involves acclimatizing the people to the logic and methodology of your authoritarian rule in advance, before you finally pull the string and shatter even the illusion of democracy. The Trump regime is clearly making a grand spectacle of slapping their Democrat opponents in handcuffs as part of that acclimatization process. And in that regard, they got what they wanted the moment the cuffs were slapped on Lander, even if everyone watching at home already knew the charges were bullshit.

Trump, ICE Have Earned Every Bit Of The Hatred They’re Now Facing
hexThe first Trump administration was a horrible blur for a lot of us, so it's easy to forget that a lot of what we're facing now isn't actually that new.
In the first 100 days of Trump's first, we saw the Muslim Travel Ban and Executive order 13768, among other things. This executive order attempted to deny federal grants to sanctuary districts (oh, familiar), and was one of the hints that ICE was ramping up for mass deportation that Trump had promised within days of the election. People protested, the ACLU sued, Trump struggled to get things going.
But ICE in Washington was still kidnaping well known immigrant rights organizers, and the administration was separating parents from children at the border. (Later the administration adopted out those separated children to other parents, which is both an act of genocide and similar to Russian kidnaping and adopting Ukrainian children to Russian parents in that ongoing genocide.) The ramp up was a *lot* slower, met a lot more resistance last time, and was not as well planned in advance, but the goal wasn't actually different.
By May 2019, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto introduced S.1591 which was titled the "End Mass Deportation Act" that attempted to rescind EO 13768. (Parts of the EO had already been declared unconstitutional by November 2017, but it wasn't completely rescinded until 2021 by Biden.) In June, ICE was working on the logistics of mass deportation. Deporting "1 million people" as promised (https://edition.cnn.com/2019/06/19/politics/trump-mass-deportations) was just technically difficult. Coming in to July of 2019, Trump's ICE was openly talking about carrying out mass raids. They had busses ready. They started carrying out mass raids throughout the country. Within a few days of the first raids ICE had completely suspended operations and operations remained suspended for several weeks. (This part is from memory, so clear numbers are a bit hard). Even after they did resume operations, they scaled up slowly. By May 2020, the George Floyd uprising was in full swing and Trump had a full on rebellion to deal with. By fall Border Patrol contractors were kidnaping activists off the street and terrorizing people in Portland, but the protests didn't stop until Biden's election was confirmed.
What happened to stop ICE? On July 13, Willem van Spronsen was killed fire bombing an ICE private prison (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Tacoma_immigration_detention_center_attack). He managed to damage a few vehicles, IIRC, and directly hindered operations at that specific facility. ICE officials completely stopped operations for several days citing safety concerns. ICE and Trump officials had been in the news talking about how they would fulfill the promise of mass deportation. After Willem, that stopped.

CECOT was built in 2022, which has given Trump a more terrifying place to send people. But ICE is fundamentally the same. They remain cowards who can be slowed and stopped with sufficient resistance.
They wear all their kit to intimidate people, in the hopes no one will actually stop them. Their kit is for show. It's a costume they hope will protect them because they are, in almost all cases, not trained to *actually use it*.
And a this point, we actually don't know how many of the kidnapings are carried out by ICE at all. Mall cop fash love to cover their face and wear kit. It's not uncommon for them to deputize themselves as border guards, imagining themselves to be revolutionary war minutemen or something. In any given incident, masked people in kit could just as easily be ICE as any vigilante right-wing death squad. (Oh, I'm sorry you have to know that RWDS is absolutely a thing.)

Trump has escalated authoritarian terror faster than any authoritarian of which I'm aware. He's doing a speed run of Hitler's rise to power. Usually authoritarians, like Hitler, take years to threaten to send citizens of their own countries to death camps. Trump isn't even through his first 6 months and he's already doing that. As ParkrosePermaculture (https://www.youtube.com/@ParkrosePermaculture) has pointed out in several videos that these threats don't show the strength that Trump is trying to project. Threats, kit, it's all the same: these people are afraid. They know they are weak, and they're trying to project power. Trump brings in other people to blame for the policies he's trying to see rolled out, because he's a coward. These "agents" (if they even are that) wear masks because they are afraid of people knowing who they are and holding them accountable. Musk is trying to buy the illusion of distance from Trump to save himself from the consequences of his actions.
Resistance is working. It's important to keep going and to keep escalating. They are afraid to be seen doing the evil things. If you want them to stop, it is necessary to make them afraid to do the evil things at all.
