Il premier spagnolo era stato il primo a criticare esplicitamente l'operazione militare di Stati Uniti e Israele in Iran. Ai tavoli europei la posizione anti-Trump di Sánchez è certamente minoritaria, per non dire isolata. Eppure questa presa di posizione netta contro il conflitto gli ha permesso di fare breccia nelle opinioni pubbliche, anche in quelle di altri Paesi che chiedono all'Europa uno scatto d'orgoglio. “No to war,” “no to war.” With this phrase, which reprises the slogan of the 2003 oceanic demonstrations against the military intervention in Iraq, Pedro Sánchez has become the symbol of Europe that rebels against Donald Trump. The Spanish prime minister had been the first to explicitly criticize the military operation by the United States and Israel in Iran. At European tables, Sánchez’s anti-Trump position is certainly minority, to say the least isolated. Yet, this clear stance against the conflict has allowed him to break through public opinion, even in the opinions of other countries that are asking Europe for a bold display of pride.
