#globaltalk people printing to ImageWriters: beware the Ides of #Marcintosh and heed my advice: if you're using MacPalette II, do not switch printers to queue up more than one additional job.

This is a cautionary tale of how I accidentally murdered @MrKsoft's ImageWriter II not once, but twice. His printer is in the Wafflenet Zone - the last one alphabetically to have a real ImageWriter (as of this moment).

Microspot's background print job files store the document settings like color and paper feed, but they do NOT not remember the chosen printer; rather, they send the job to the most recent active printer from Chooser.

If you queue up 16 jobs like I did, selecting a different printer in between, it will send the next job to the same (last) printer over and over.

The background queue would work if you were sending lots of jobs to the *same* printer.

If you must switch printers, do not queue up more than ONE additional job. And don't mix and match LaserWriter jobs with ImageWriter jobs.

And for #marcintosh , I finally assembled the case that @DosFox built and sent me for my #macplus clone!

I procrastinated on this build for a year or so...

Isn't it a beauty?

The #macintosh is also fitted with a miniperformer+ 68030 accelerator.

For Follow Friday, I'm going to go Mac/retrocomputing, advising you to follow a few interesting peeps:

@BasicAppleGuy: going through a series of macOS icon history right now…
@billgoats: king of GlobalTalk, Marcintosh, and barbed-wired networking (seriously!)
@paulrickards: looking at Vintage Apple stuff, including an original Apple Scanner (the one before the OneScanner series!).

I did not hit my #Marcintosh goals this year, but I know what I need to do between now and February 2026.

for the second time in 24 hours, a Macintosh LC in one country has sent a print job to a Mac LC in another country, thousands of miles away 🤣

thank you to @paulrickards and @billgoats for doing all of the heavy lifting and figuring out how Apple Internet Router worked, as well as designed some packet forwarding software!

now... to create a Localtalk Bolo match 😎
