Marble Canyon - Kootenay River

This beautiful area is Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park in British Columbia, Canada. This cascading Kootenay River flows through a rocky gorge with a visible rainbow formed at the base of the waterfall. Surrounded by lush green trees, the rugged cliff faces create a striking contrast with the turquoise/white, frothy water below.

Marble Canyon

Marble Canyon is just one of many canyons that make up the Grand Canyon. It starts at Lees Ferry and continues to the Little Colorado River.
John Powell named it Marble Canyon because he thought that the polished limestone looked like marble.
The Colorado River cuts through the center of the canyon and the water runs swiftly through this beautiful canyon. See the full image here. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/marble-canyon-bill-gallagher.html #MarbleCanyon #BillGallagherPhotography #BuyIntoArt #AYearForArt #GrandCanyon

Marble Canyon II

Marble Canyon is just one of many canyons that make up the Grand Canyon. It starts at Lees Ferry and continues to the Little Colorado River.
The Colorado River cuts through the center and the water runs swiftly. The limestone colors vary from pink, black, gray, and purple. At this point we are a couple of thousand feet below the South Rim of the canyon.

Day 2 and we're ready for the river. It seems like everyday we start out just above some rapid. Not all of them are big ones just large enough to get everyone wet to start the day.
Here we are inside Marble Canyon and in the distance you can see the water starting to churn. Beyond that are the walls of the Grand Canyon. Marble canyon is maybe not the most popular sight around Banff but it is definitely worth a visit. It lies in the Kootenay Nationalpark in British Columbia, just across the Vermillion pass. The Tokuum Creek has carved itself in the rocks. Marvelous views.

Marble Canyon in Tokumm Creek, Kootenay Nationalpark, British Columbia, Canada is maybe a bit of combination between Peyto lake and Mistaya Canyon. It has this stunning turquoise water in the deeply carved canyon.
