How stupid can a corporation be?

#Mapleturfing

Sobeys is labelling its own brand orange juice as Canadian.

Can anyone tell me where the commercial orange groves are in Canada?

These I must see.

Call it #MapleWashing, #MapleTurfing, #MapleLighting, whatever... This is an excellent example, the enshittification lengths a corporation will go to to steal your money.

Campbell's soup closed their last Canadian plant in 2018. Just recently, they decided to add a Maple Leaf, or a "Canadian" symbol to their labeling. As neither one is a protected symbol, there's nothing to stop them, no law, no regulation.

I mean yeah, if you're thinking of buying a can of soup, go ahead instead to the butchers, the deli, the produce section and buy stuff to make your own. It'll be at least 7 orders of magnitude better than any can on any shelf.

But for sure don't be duped by grifting scumbags who lie to your face to steal your money.

Tim Hortons isn't Canadian either.... Neither is Home Depot.... Neither is Walmart....

You must choose, but choose wisely.

Since my initial post that Campbell's has inaccurate "prepared in Canada" packaging, a few people have been countering with this CBC article - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/buying-canadian-trade-war-freshco-1.7475613
This CBC article is only situationally accurate.

There are different versions of Campbell's packaging. Some say "designed in Canada". Some say "prepared in Canada". Some say nothing. Some list the address as Mississauga, some as Toronto.

I don't make claims without receipts ;)

This Ontario man saw U.S.-made soup on shelf with maple leaf label — one reason buying Canadian can be tricky | CBC News

The trade war triggered by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs has been inspiring patriotic stances among customers at Canadian grocery stores, but buying only Canadian products isn't as simple as looking for a maple leaf — as Jim Kreski of Windsor, Ont., found out.

Worth noting there are a few version of Campbell's soup can packaging out there so I took a screenshot of this one for sale on amazon.ca (there's a double whammy for you).

Note that the address on this Campbell's soup can is just a last-mile distribution facility. There has been no production at this location since 2018. It is not, in fact. "prepared in Canada".
