👛 The true experience of Mallorca starts with independence. 💁🏼‍♂️

👑 Alcudia's Old Town is one of the best-preserved walled medieval cities in the whole Balearics, and the entry fee is exactly nothing. The 14th-century fortifications still stand at full height. The limestone side streets are narrow enough that you can sometimes touch both walls at the same time. And those picture-perfect window shutters? Every photographer who has been to an old European town knows exactly what I'm talking about. 🪟

2️⃣Two things to put on your radar while you wander:

🚶🏼‍♂️ Walk in through the main gate first, so you feel the actual scale of the walls before anything else. Then slow down in the side streets off the main square, where the shutters and the stone create the contrast that makes every shot. Late afternoon, make your way to Sant Jaume church and time it so you can catch the last of the golden-hour light on the walls. 🌄

🚗 We drove up from Palma with a rental car, which is honestly the move for Mallorca and, really, any trip. Having your own set of wheels means you can stop whenever something catches your eye on the way, and parking near the old town walls is easy. The TIB 302 bus from Palma is always an option if you're going car-free, but I'd look into it before committing since I can't personally vouch for the schedule. Either way, once you're inside the walls, everything is on foot. 👟

Save this if Mallorca is already in your 2026 plans. And drop your current itinerary in the comments. I'll tell you if anythings missing. 👇🏼

Majorca Daily Bulletin: Google Maps causes a stir by naming Mallorca party beach “Beach of the Drunks”. ” Google Maps lists the same area as Platja dels Borratxos (“Beach of the Drunks”) and a nearby street as Carrer dels Alemanys Borratxos (“Street of the Drunken Germans”). While Google allows users to add or edit locations with relative ease, Apple’s system is far more restrictive.”

Though I’ve come back to Boston…… still need to post these photos from Mallorca, Spain!!!

Mallorca is the cycling mecca and it lives up to its fame. The beach right out of the old town Palma…… the world famous hairpin climbs of Coll de Sóller…. And the view of the rustic coastline with quint Spanish villages in between…

I’m so happy I chose to do this on my vacation. Also grateful for the support from my partner that he could entertain himself while I was out cycling and enjoying what I loved to do.
