Maire Group wins a €485 million contract in West Africa.

AGI - Group Maire has announced that its subsidiary Nextchem has won a major €485 million contract to participate in the construction of three large industrial complexes in West Africa. Two of these sites will be dedicated to the production of fertilizers (urea), while the third will produce both ammonia and methanol, two substances widely used in the chemical and agricultural industries. Nextchem will provide the technologies, technical plans, and key equipment necessary to carry out these projects. An initial portion of the amount (€10 million) corresponds to engineering studies already launched. The remainder will be confirmed when the final investment decision is made by the client.

The two fertilizer plants will have a total production capacity of over 3 million tonnes of urea per year. They will include several units designed to produce the hydrogen and ammonia needed to manufacture urea. The goal is to ensure large-scale production while improving energy efficiency and reducing resource consumption. The third complex will produce more than 900,000 tonnes of ammonia and more than 600,000 tonnes of methanol per year. Part of the facilities will be designed to produce these two substances flexibly, according to needs. The technologies used have been developed by GasConTec, a Nextchem group company specializing in low-carbon emission solutions for hydrogen and methanol. Fabio Fritelli, CEO of Nextchem, described this contract as “historic,” highlighting that it confirms the group’s expertise throughout the production chain, from hydrogen to fertilizers, and strengthens its position as a leading partner for large, integrated industrial projects.
