"Maidstone Borough Council has become the first council in the UK to formally adopt a Rights of Nature framework.
This means the council will embed the principle that nature has an intrinsic right to exist, thrive and evolve across its governance, decision‑making and service delivery."

"Gormley’s ‘Two Stones’ was hosted outside the Kent History and Library Centre in Maidstone until a few days ago.
The work was one of Gormley’s first commissions. The renowned artist studied and later taught at the Maidstone School of Art."
The wonderful Maria de la Mann has a display at Maidstone Community Arts Hub, at the bottom of Gabriel's Hill, handily opposite the chip shop! All her (7) books currently in print are available there at a universal (and special) price of £4.99 each. Greatful for boosts and shares elsewhere if the fancy takes you, and of course if local enough to Maidstone then pop in!
Trust me on this, her writing and illustrations (including the covers) are a delight.
