Tonight’s film…
‘Magnificent Warriors’ with Michelle Yeoh.
I haven’t seen it before, but it is apparently “Indiana Jones”-ish.
Nice cover.
My toots are cyclical. Roughly two years ago...
I also feel they built a city/town for this film purely so they could blow it up in various ways. #MichelleYeoh #MagnificentWarriors
The final shot of the film is them actually burning down the entire walled city set that they actually built for this film.
Billowing smoke pouring off the numerous structures ablaze.
Noone makes films like this.
They built an entire city for this film so they could destroy it piece by piece in the final epic action scene.
It’s a city in 1930s regional China, under Japanese, so relatively easy to construct, but the ambition here is wild.
Yeah, what a fun and odd film.
The ‘Indiana Jones’ comparisons are off. Michelle Yeoh wears a bunch of cool looking leather jackets, and has a great sequence fighting with a whip in inventive ways, but that’s it.
It’s more of a “resistance” movie with the characters fighting against an oppressive occupying Japanese army.
But the stunts and martial arts are great and fun in this. Michelle Yeoh is incredible, at times fighting off an entire army with ease. There are 4 other “magnificent warriors” too, and they are pretty entertaining.
So yeah, recommended for a good movie time (if you can find it).

My kung-fu action film has somehow turned into the Battle Of Helm’s Deep.
So far I’ll say this film has been extremely entertaining. Very fast paced and lots of fun weapon-based combat.
