I bought this movie thinking it was a completely different movie.
(I thought it was The Heroic Trio)
Luckily, this is an excellent movie in its own right.
My toots are cyclical. Roughly two years ago...
I also feel they built a city/town for this film purely so they could blow it up in various ways. #MichelleYeoh #MagnificentWarriors
The final shot of the film is them actually burning down the entire walled city set that they actually built for this film.
Billowing smoke pouring off the numerous structures ablaze.
Noone makes films like this.
They built an entire city for this film so they could destroy it piece by piece in the final epic action scene.
It’s a city in 1930s regional China, under Japanese, so relatively easy to construct, but the ambition here is wild.
So the year this film was made (1987) Michelle Yeoh got married and retired from acting at age 25.
5 years later she got divorced, came out of retirement, and joined Jackie Chan for ‘Police Story 3: Supercop’ (which is amazing).
I bought this movie thinking it was a completely different movie.

Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung Lead Shanghai Film Festival’s Star-Studded Opening

One of my favorite movies of all time is Everything Everywhere All At Once, and I just had to paint Michelle Yeoh in the vibrant Chinese opera outfit! This was painted when I was studying color and how to paint digitally.
Also kein Ausflug in eine andere Kultur, sondern deren totale Aneignung. Schönheit wird hier nur ausgestellt, aber leider nicht verstanden. (ZDF, Wh.)
