#Celtic #MythologyMonday: #Nuada, king of the #TuathaDéDanann when they first came to #Ireland, lost his arm in the first battle of #MagTuired and hence, he lost the kingship. #Credne, the bronze smith, made a prosthesis of silver, which #Diancecht so skilfully attached that #Nuada had a fully functional arm again. Hence he was called Nuada Argat-lamh, of the Silver Hand, for ever after.

#DianCécht God of healing for the Tuatha Dé Danann and son of the Dagda according to the Dindsenchas. He was the father of Cu, Cethen and Cian. Grandfather of Lugh Lamhfada and maker of the silver arm of Nuada ... Loved blue stones in his jewellery.

#Celtic #MythologyMonday: #Diancécht, `Master of the Well of Health`, was able to heal all the wounds of the #TuathaDéDanann at the 2nd Battle of #MagTuired, as long as the head was not cut off, the meninges were not injured or the spinal cord was not damaged. #Spells he had cast together with his three children over the well of life of the #TuathaDèDanann caused these miracles. The `Well of Health` could even bring dead warriors back to life, they only lost their ability to speak.
