The eight pointed star halo is literally just aperture diffraction. The phenomenon shows up a bit differently depending on the type of camera being used - but the principle is essentially the same.

#sapphire windows transmit light at 88% from 0.5um to 4um wavelength which is good for #UV applications such as #lithography. In other words, #Ukraine removed #ruzzians ability to make or repair machines that make computer chips and transistors in general. They will have to import all of that tech. They also hit the #MWIR Market....ideal for defense applications such as detecting gasses that are invisible... #exhaust from a #tank for example, can't see it if your lens blocks it's light.
