👉🏽 No more stolen sisters, daughters, mothers, friends
As of 2016, the National Crime Information Center has reported 5,712 cases of missing American Indian and Alaska Native women and girls. Strikingly, the U.S Department of Justice missing persons database has only reported 116 cases.
The majority of these murders are committed by non-Native people on Native-owned land. #MMIW #MMIWG #MMIWawareness #NoMoreStolenSisters

Murder is the 3rd leading cause of death for Indigenous women in the #US.
More than 80% of Indigenous women have experienced #violence.
#MMIWG2S is a #crisis affecting all Indigenous communities. Knowing the statistics, sharing information, and donating to important resources are some tangible ways you can help.

The #Manitoba #Government refuses to search the #landfill that contains the remains of two #Indigenous #women who were left there by a serial killer, citing safety concerns. But in #Canada we have successfully searched landfills for human remains in the recent past. These are just a few of those stories:

The #Conservative government has a duty to search, but they're too #racist and #bigoted to begin it.
We have searched landfills in Canada before - in the recent past too - and have successfully recovered human remains & evidence. Yet the Manitoba Government refuses to take action. I urge you to contact your MLA to demand the landfill be searched. Manitoba, as a whole, needs to do better. We have a long way to go when it comes to reconciliation and we all play a role in that journey. If you need help finding your MLA I can assist. #winnipeg #manitoba #canada #mmiw #mmiwg2s #mmiwawareness #politics #racism

We invite submissions of art, poetry, and comments for display and names you would like to be read during a prayer. We will accept names and art and comments from all across Turtle Island, so please feel free to share widely. To do so, please visit the submission form here or my following the QR code above.

On the morning of May 5th, the A.D White and Ezra Cornell statues in Cornell University had banners and red handprints in recognition of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Cornell staff soon had them taken down.
Cornell Uni is the largest recipient of appropriated Indigenous land from the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862 and the institution that accrued the greatest financial benefit from that land.
