This could be big, or could be more lip service. We shall see. It doesn't give any #land rights or #harvesting rights, it's more about internal affairs and #governance, so I'm not too hopeful.

Canada introduces Bill for Self-Government Treaty with the Manitoba Métis Federation

Today, with the support of the Manitoba Métis Federation, the National Government of the Red River Métis, the Honourable Rebecca Alty Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations introduced Bill C-21. If passed, Bill C-21 will give effect to the Red River Métis Self-Government Recognition and Implementation Treaty - the first Self-Government Treaty reached with a Métis Government in Canada.

Province hires MMIWG advocate Cambria Harris to work as special assistant on reconciliation | CBC News

Cambria Harris, who was was one of the most prominent voices pushing for a landfill search for the remains of her mother, Morgan Harris, and those of Marcedes Myran, will join Manitoba's Finance Department as a special assistant, helping support work within the Indigenous reconciliation portfolio, a government spokesperson says.
