Ten years ago today I was in Dublin for St. Patrick's day and visited Broom Bridge where Hamilton scored the formula for quaternions for the first time.

A friend of mine with Irish heritage happened to ask me today about fields and division rings, about which he'd read in an encyclopedia article from the 80s. I was able to explain the basic concepts with some examples, but I couldn't think of or find an intuitive example of a non-commutative division ring. Anyway I told him a bit about quaternions.

He asked me why they weren't called Hamiltonians :)

Happy St Patrick's day everyone.

The last post is the minimalistic creation of the same code of this one.

Here I overstretched every variable but for me it is special because it shows the similarity of circle and star and waves.

What do you see? Star, circle or space?
