A very unexpected addition to the garden list today, with a cuckoo singing sporadically for much of the afternoon. I didn’t actually see it, but here’s an artist’s impression.

I got 16 species during the RSPB #BigGardenBirdwatch :

Pigeon, woodpigeon, sparrowhawk, GS woodpecker, RN parakeet, magpie, jackdaw, carrion crow, blue tit, great tit, long-tailed tit, redwing, robin, dunnock, chaffinch & goldfinch.

You always miss a few species but that’s a pretty good total. Redwing and sparrowhawk are bonuses. The lack of greenfinch and blackbird is sadly not as surprising as it would have been a few years ago.
