BIDEN URGED TO STOP MASS SEA-TURTLE KILLING

The Center is calling on President #Biden to impose #TradeSanctions to stop #Mexico from accidentally catching — and killing — protected #LoggerheadSeaTurtles.

Each year Mexican fisheries off #BajaCaliforniaSur catch thousands of loggerheads following their #migration from nesting grounds in #Japan. In August, #NOAA Fisheries "certified" Mexico for its #bycatch under U.S. #law,

Attended a presentation about #SeaTurtles today, where the presenter talked about #LoggerheadSeaTurtles having big muscles but tiny brains in their skulls.

It was pointed out that they are good at crunching through hard-shelled invertebrates, but not good at doing taxes.

I chuckled.

(This was mentioned to note that they're not good at distinguishing jellyfish from plastic bags.)
