“Seldom are pictures so absurd or so macabre that they are hilarious. However, one of the twin horror features at the Regent Theater this week may be just that…. The acting is so overdone and amateurish, it would be kinder to the performers to forget their real names. The sets, plot line, dialogue, and action are all below even the level set in the old cliff-hanging serials of years back.” —Robert Westgate, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Nov 5, 1960
“‘Shop of Horrors’ Is Sick, Sick, Sick” —Phil Mayer, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Sep 13, 1960
“It’s one of a kind and let’s hope it says that way.”
I’m searching 1960 newspaper archives for The Little Shop of Horrors and it’s interesting to see that The Little Shop of Horrors was often shown along with another Corman movie, either Last Woman on Earth or House of Usher.
i'm hanging out for the musical but now that the main event's over good job team and thanks as always to @Taweret for hosting ^_^
Excellent selection!
@RobynGoodfellow @Taweret true, it's no attack of the crab monsters, but it has a lot going for it
