புறங்கூறிப் பொய்த்துயிர் வாழ்தலின் சாதல்
அறங்கூற்றும் ஆக்கந் தரும்.

Transliteration:
Purangoorip poiththuyir vaazhdhalin saadhal
arangkoottum aakkanth tharum.

English Meaning:
Dying is better than living by slandering others behind their back and lying to their face; such a death alone brings the gain of virtue praise.

தமிழ் அர்த்தம்:
ஒருவரை பின்புறம் தீயதாகப் பேசிக், முன்னிலையில் பொய்மையாக நடித்து வாழ்வதைவிட, அப்படி செய்யாமல் இறந்து விடுதலே உயர்ந்த நன்மையை அளிக்கும்.
