Windswept Streets--A rengay-style, linked-verse poem by: Paul David Mena, Nara Moore, & Mark Brigham
12 June 2026
windswept streets
the shadows
play tricks on me
freight train rumble
mountain pine bow
four-day weekend
lawyer with a rose tattoo
hops the train
changing at Jamaica
sunglasses replace bifocals
alley beckons
soft crooning lilt
smiling maiden
a busker singing Fast Car
dreadlocks blow across her face
Harvard Square Station
the cellist begins
a Brahms sonata
sax on the stairs
joins a mournful tune
college recruits pause
ponder probabilities
Harvard or State?
ivy or bittersweet?
the graduate's dilemma
tricks played
not but his gown
sour notes
dollar note blows—from
a guitar case—down Church Street
