#PercyFrench was aways a bit too tame for more defiant stars of the Irish folk revival such as #TheDubliners. He was a bit off-brand for the likes of #TommyMakem and #LiamClancy.

But to me, Percy French still awaits the arrival of some loudly passionate and irreverent scruffs who can give his words some welly. #Shane and #Sinead would both have known what to do with this material, but it's too late to ask them why they didn't use it.
