Thou pickle-herring in the puppet-show of nonsense

On this day in 1759, Robert Burns was born, which means that tonight is Burns Night, an annual celebration of his life during which millions of people will be reciting Burns’ work, not least Address to a Haggis; eating haggis, neeps and tatties; and drinking Scotch.
