Today 80 years ago, Leo Smit and his wife Lientje Smit-de Vries arrived in Sobibor. They were killed upon arrival.

De bijzonder getalenteerde componist Leo Smit (1900-1943), aflevering 1. Nadat hij cum laude was afgestudeerd aan het Amsterdams Conservatorium startte hij daar als docent muziektheorie en harmonieleer. Maar Parijs en haar dynamische muziekscene trok hem en zijn muziekvriend Jacques Beers, ook componist, sterk aan zodat hij verhuisde en kennismaakte met Ravel en de Groupe des Six. Deze eerste aflevering gaat over de muziek uit Smits’ conservatoriumtijd en Parijs.
