Bears. We can definitely say this family (or clan) is connected to bears. And not in a teddy or Steiff way, more like a berserker way. (And if you don't know what berserkers are, I'm tempted to say they're ancient, extremely pissed off furries, but I'm using the official definition and say they're a type of Viking warrior instead.)

The script is rough around the edges, and at this point I don't fully understand general Qin's actions. It's probably due to a kind of cultural deficit; intentionally or not the writing leaves out too many details, since the sub story leans on a trope I'm not familliar with.
OTH, given how the actor portrays the general here, I'm not sure _he_ is on board with the script either. He gives his best though - respect!
Paper, documents, and bookbinds in C-dramas are often just as awesome as the embroideries! This is a list the Eeevil Spy has made of [no spoilers!], and as a self-respecting villain of style he's written it on high quality paper with gold leaf in the pulp. A+!

(I know not everyone has the clout, but if this happens to you try to sway the director towards something cool that doesn't reflect light)
Look at that! The stitches on his cuirass is uneven (sure sign they're hand stitched) and it looks like real leather instead of a mold. The costuming in this drama is a bit uneven, and they probably didn't have a Gigantic budget, but for this I'm awarding A+ to the costume makers!
Does that cupboard in the background look like a worthy cardboard furniture build project? It absolutely does!
