Remember that falcon I commented on? This is what it looked like to the actors. 75% of good acting is Not Bursting Out Laughing in the green screen room.
Last episode of The Unclouded Soul, and I regret to inform you that Hong Ye has ditched the bathrobes ages ago. Instead he's more conforming to standard demon king wear, with dual purpose shoulders; they can either poke an eye out or serve as hangers for small items. And hey - they glitter!
I gave Love Beyond the Grave a good go but...Dilraba still couldn't act. Sorry not sorry 😆
Xianxia not being my fav genre also made it an extra slog for me
Anyway the first ep was barely tolerable and I found no desire to continue. Arthur Chen is dishy, but that's not enough for me.
Also, what's with the terrible production quality? The dubbing didn't feel natural, almost echoey. Dilraba and Arthur Did their own dubbing apparently. I find it a little affected but tolerable, tho some of the supporting casts' VA was awful
And the camerawork! After Pursuit of Jade it was just painful to look at lol. I miss the utter beauty of the scene framing, the gorgeous lighting....in this production everything was overly lit, so it made everything look flat.
The "next door" drama Veil of Shadows doesn't appeal to me either. Most of the actors are not great actors, tho I don't mind Joseph Zheng (I wonder what he's doing there tho).
I think I will start Ingenious One s1 instead or continue Swords into Plowshares or Mirage.
Yup, turning evil is definitely a boon for the hair! Look at that volume! It may even have given Bingzhu a cuirass, which is sorely needed in a world where _eating people's hearts_ seems to be a major folk sport.
Also, actor I Usually Start As A Cutiepie has finally flipped.

Looks like my payment to iQiyi lapsed due to A Very Large Inheritance*. It'll take a few days to sort out, and until then I only have 360p solution. Not good for embroidery watching, so I'll save the last episode for later. Tonight I'll make do with this grainy soup, and then I'll comment on the 1997 A Chinese Ghost Story donghua for a while.
(*Sounds like an awesome thing to get but... well, I'll explain in another thread tomorrow.)
