I hacked together a stand from scrap wood so I could adjust the derailleur more easily and it actually worked (mostly) and now the gears shift like butter.
Also mounted the milk crate over the panniers using longer machine screws and big washers. The mounting holes lined up perfectly with holes in the crate.
ALSO added more reflective things because I very much want to continue living.

I bought my #lectric ebike from a corp in AZ, USA for 750$ about 5 yrs ago. It now has 7,000 miles on it and I've spend about another 600$ on replacement battery and tires, brakes etc.
It is amazing that an ebike and some saddle bags can replace most trips by car but I'm lucky and have not need to bring anything home that is big, heavy or far away.

I placed an order for one yesterday. A Lectric XP4 750. Yes, I know. I'm weak.
So this kinda puts me in a weird space. The "saran wrap" style plastic they used to protect this head unit seems to have melted chunks of it onto the thing pretty hard. But the actual screen is fine, and not affected. The housing AROUND It, however, looks like aged shit. This isn't a hard enough issue for me to start calling #Lectric support, but this tarnishes an otherwise positive first impression.
(The box it shipped in, too. had so much glue that I had to rip the thing apart like an animal into chunks.)
Eliza and I have been thinking about buying some e-bikes for a long time. We live in a mountainous area and a traditional bike is fun, definitely a good workout, but also limits the number of times and places we’d bike. Having the e-bikes broadens our horizons quite a lot.
