Iron Beam high-power laser air-defense system goes operational.

Iron Beam, a 100-kilowatt Iaser system, is the latest component in Israel’s air-defense system with existing systems including: Iron Dome for short-range rockets, David’s Sling for medium-range threats, and Arrow 2 and 3 for ballistic missiles.

Iron Beam is designed for a specific need - it targets slow, low-flying threats that can escape or overwhelm radar-guided interceptors, allowing missile interceptors to be reserved for larger and more complex threats. Recently, strike drones and aerial reconnaissance of the #Lasar's Group unit destroyed a #Russian #BM_30_Smerch multiple rocket launcher in the operational zone of the #Operation_Task_Force_South in the #Kherson region at a distance of almost 50 kilometers.

Tracking them down and destroying them is an extremely long and challenging task.
