Its a completely fictional story loosely based on a 18th century, French setting a short time before the revolution took place. The series doesn't try to be historically accurate and it never pretends to be. The story is in the supernatural genre, its actually quite a refreshing take on zombie/vampire genre making it a really good watch.
If you enjoy magnificent cinematography, an engaging story line that maintains the right amount of spookiness and mysticism, good cast, production and sound track. Then this one is a must see!
Be patient with the first two episodes, the series pick up the pace and blood/gore as it progresses, its a rolling red-snowball.
