Purple sulfur bacteria's unique protein complex boosts photosynthesis in harsh conditions

Researchers at the University of Tsukuba have reported on the structure and light energy transfer efficiency of a protein complex crucial to the photosynthesis of purple sulfur bacteria thriving in high-salt, high-alkaline environments. Cryo-electron microscopy observation and computer analysis revealed that this unique protein complex significantly enhances energy conversion ability. The findings are published in the journal Nature Communications.

Lost in the darkness, but the stars shine bright
Gravity pulls me down, but I won't hit the ground
