Solstice is 2am UTC which means it's this evening in my part of the world. I celebrate Solstices. I'm looking forward to shorter days, I'm like, enough already, Mr. Sun ❤️ ☀️ 😁

This has some of that hazy, sick of the Sun feel to me. I'm dancing to the record on the turntable though, of course, what else is there? It's a beautiful day, a beautiful now, always

Measurements made on oak trees at 137 sites in the eastern U.S. and California, for seven years, show that they stop building wood in hot and dry conditions--typically midsummer. But they continue photosynthesizing for months without creating long-term carbon storage. Climate models that estimate carbon storage from photosynthesis may be overestimating.

Climate Models May Be Wrong About How Trees Store Carbon

A new study reveals that oak trees can keep photosynthesizing for months after growth ends, challenging assumptions about how effectively forests convert absorbed carbon into long-term storage.

Working out how photosynthesis evolved.

"The most recently identified Gloeobacteria species, Anthocerotibacter panamensis, harvests light using a different set of proteins than modern cyanobacteria — but converts sunlight into chemical energy within protein complexes that vary only slightly from those in other Gloeobacteria. These traits add new color to the long, strange evolutionary story of photosynthesis."

Can We Harness Light Like Nature for a New Era of Green Chemistry

When I read the headline this was a better way to convert solar energy to electricity resulting in better PV cells maybe. I don’t know why I thought that. Photosynthesis is not about that. This is about producing carbanions.
