The five newest chicks with their kindly brooding hen. This is the greatest number of chicks that a hen has after taken on... We will have to find more people to adopt. We already have 9 chicks running around getting big so they will replace the 8 we handed off two weeks ago. Two other hens are brooding over more eggs too. The nice guy I meet while walking the dog has plans to take a few to his brother in Osaka, but they don't seem to want more than 3 or so. One rooster and two hens.... They have plans to increase the number with the first 3 birds. Maybe if we are clearer that there is no need to pay for them, we are just happy for people to take them and raise them well.. Maybe they'll agree to take more off our yard??
