I have been studying about some snakes lately. There are good snakes like the Eastern indigo snake, the King snake, and other non-venomous snakes that even in the wild will usually calm down and snuggle your hands shortly after you grab them. Even if they do bite, most non-venomous snakes are not dangerous and they don't do any significant damage in the bite area. Of course giant constrictors like pythons, boas, and anacondas would be the exception because they are very big with very big teeth that can cause wounds requiring stitches. But most other non-venomous snakes are chill in comparison when it comes to the nips they can give a human.
There are countless species of non-venomous snakes that are good for human habitats--many of them eat the venomous snakes! I think the indigo snake is one of the most beautiful of all wild animals. Right next to that is the speckled king snake, which is very gorgeous.
In my area snakes abound. I recently stood a foot away from a cottonmouth as I shooed it off the road. It bolted away like lightning. A while back I stood over a copperhead that looked up at me with terror in its eyes--fearing I would eat it. I could sense how afraid the snake was. I shooed it off the road and let it go on its merry way.
One may find youtube videos showing indigo snakes and king snakes eating diamondbacks and other venomous snakes. Such spectacles are fascinating and brutal and a reminder of how unfair and cruel nature is.
