I had some trouble enabling ligatures in KDE Konsole. If you're wondering how to do it too:

Edit Current Profile → Appearance → Complex Text Layout and make sure Word Mode is enabled.

According to the Konsole Handbook:

"This allows Qt to render text correctly when the shape of a character depends on the characters before or after it."
