We do not need the obsolete props of an outmoded and antiquated legend. We are creating images whose reality is self-evident, both sublime and beautiful.

WE ARE FREEING OURSELVES

of the impediments of memory, association, nostalgia, legend and myth.

Instead of making cathedrals out of Christ, man or 'life', we are making them out of ourselves, out of our own feelings.
The image we produce is the self-evident one of revelation, real and concrete, that can be understood by anyone who will look at it without the nostalgic glasses of history.

The Sublime is Now

And currently, there is a #JulianRosefeldt exhibition in the big hall, with the main piece being his newest (?) work, Euphoria, and also older works being shown. Euphoria is a bit pointedly anti-capitalist, but still good. The audio of the older works you get through headphones, I assume, didn’t try. I have seen Deep Gold in Neue Nationalgalerie twice already. The Swap was excellent. The other works I didn’t have time to watch, sadly. https://voelklinger-huette.org/en/exhibitions/julian-rosefeldt-when-we-are-gone/ #Völklingen
JULIAN ROSEFELDT. WHEN WE ARE GONE

presents from 11.12.2022 to 3.9.2023, in addition to EUPHORIA, seven other of his works, some of them monumental, in the unique atmosphere of the Völklingen Gebläsehalle.

There's a point this semester when my #students and I will be watching #CateBlanchett #play three very different standout characters one after the other, ranging from a supporting role to joining an ensemble cast to a lead #performance.

I only recently learned about #JulianRosefeldt's #art project #Manifesto, and I regret not finding time to show this. I will likely teach the whole thing in a course sometime this year.
