Repeats of 'Travels With Pevsner' are on #BBC4 and #BBC #iPlayer

A retrospective on the #UnitedKingdom travel guides of #NikolausPevsner, with the #landscape and #architecture explored by different celebrity presenters in 1997.

The #JonathanMeades episode isn't up; which isn't a great surprise given that it has been re-released as part of various Meades collections. It's on Vimeo last I checked though.

Can web design really learn from brutalist architecture?

As a web designer with an interest in brutalist architecture, I was fascinated to read an article about what web designers can learn from brutalism. But perhaps instead of taking inspiration, perhaps the lessons are in what web designers should avoid.

I just read in #BylineTimes that #jonathanmeades once described television as a "moronocracy".
What a great word that is!
Well done #USA, you will shortly become a #moronocracy and if we're not careful (we won't be) then the #uk will follow suit.
Just rewatched, after many years, the first of Jonathan Meades' "Magnetic North" programmes. I think this was the first TV programme to inspire one of my holidays - in 2009 we visited Lübeck and Rügen. Watching it again I couldn't help saying "been there!" many times.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

I just caught a glimpse of #JonathanMeades saying that the three most depressing words in the #EnglishLanguage are ‘all the trimmings’.
At the point in my day / week / life where I have a kind of silent strop, stop doing anything remotely creative & sit grumpily watching old #JonathanMeades programmes on YouTube.
@stephenfry Couldn't agree more about #JonathanMeades. The best and most interesting cultural commentator I've ever come across. His anti-presenterly style is a style unto itself that even #PhilomenaCunk couldn't parody. Infuriating sometimes but impossible not to watch and listen.

Empty Wigs

The wait is over. After twenty years, Meades delivers his gargantuan new novel.

Another of the small amount of #books I’ve read more than once. The most beautiful & sordid language surrounding a tale of strange families & bad tidings. Hard to describe but every page has linguistic wonders. Stick with it and it’ll stick to you like a fungal infection. #JonathanMeades #Pompey #booktodon #bookstodon #ThriceReadBooks
