Se nota que fue de las primeras novelas de este autor. La historia es floja y a veces totalmente improbable y rebuscada. Los diálogos son planísimos y artificiales, y además hay demasiados personajes que no aportan nada.
Con todo no está muy mal, se lee bien y fue el primer paso para la serie de uno de los detectives más conocidos de la literatura escocesa reciente.

While on holiday I read Saints of the Shadow Bible by Ian Rankin. I feel like the Rebus novels hit the perfect spot for me of a realistic crime novel but without ever offering me any chance to empathise with the baddie - meaning I’m not put off by glorification of evil that other authors want me to enjoy. This story is set around the 2014 referendum campaign and its fascinating seeing it around events I properly remember being part of.
