I have had the huge privilege of seeing the very best of the NHS these past few days. My better half had open heart surgery on Tuesday and has been in ICU since. The skill, professionalism, teamwork and care shown by everyone, from consultant to ward cleaner is utterly humbling. I will be forever grateful. More importantly I will fight with all I have for the NHS.

5.15 alarm is not ideal, but meant we were at JRH ahead of 7.30 admission. Today is the day for the big op. We know it is for the best, and that it is an everyday event for the surgeon and his team, but still can't help but feel apprehensive for C. Recovery will be slow, but should get her back. I just support.
