@Kaltirkawi Thanks for sharing! Interesting paper, but it makes me a little suspicious that the differences were so large in such a small trial. ”The small trial effect”?
At #jENS2025, I heard about a larger trial about automated O2 delivery, that turned out negative, lets see when this gets published so we can see the details. The jury is still out :)

While travelling home from #jENS2025 , I was thinking about that/how the neonatal social media feeds feels so... collapsed.

But I believe in the #nicuverse and #NeoMastodon!

the NICUVERSE - the solution to collapsed neonatal social media feeds?

I spent a few wonderful days at jENS 2025. While I had great days at this large neonatology conference, I also checked in into the various social media channels, to find out about missed out things. And realised… the neonatal social media is pretty dead ☹️In the beginning, we had a pretty basic I...

And, along those lines, next up in this #jENS2025 session is @DrVickyPayne in our @99nicu team, sharing a wonderful talk about developing neonatal nursing research capacity and capability.
There is such a large unmet need of this, but the opportunities are few, scattered and ineffective in creating real change.
A Secret Sauce improving care and outcomes for any NICU patient category will depend on that nursing care get the academic trajectories it deserves!

Refl to the #nicuverse from #jENS2025 and the talk by Rosemarie Boland about variations in the care of 22week infants - there is IMHO a sound shift in "acceptance" for care at this gest week. It goes without saying that outcomes depend on what/whether care is provided, ie there is a significant potential to improve care and outcomes, through structure and "mentality".

Am at #JENS2025, great #nicuverse gathering in Belgrade.
Had an interesting conversation today with @DrVickyPayne
Whether we have entered the “post-evidence-based” era.
Analogous to “postmodernism., leading to a paralytic state of things.
Change is hold back because there is always the case that “more research is needed” (which is also true in many cases!).
I am not advocating for bad science, but for more pragmatic quality improvement strategies. Plan-do-study-act!
Ida Lagerström - a raising star in perinatal epidemiology and clinical obstetrics!
She had her halftime-PhD seminar today, her thesis includes a very nice project (population-based register data etc) on term infants with Apgar
Score 0 at 10’, and their short and long term outcomes. Stay tuned until #jENS2025 in Belgrade!
(but hope to share paper1 here before the summer, manuscript to be submitted soon)
