I talked to Dad about Chorkles - a local identity in the town we grew up in.

Dad got to know Chorkles and Pen Hall when he did odd jobs on Saturdays as a kid.

I found some great material in Trove's newspaper archives and in the National Library of Australia about Chorkles and her family.

But we were left with a lot of questions.

I would love to know more but was delighted by the snippets we talked about.

Yell Out for Australia's Yellow-Bellied Glider this Silly Season

YouTube

We talked with forest defender Felicity Law about gliders in the latest episode of In Those Days. Searching the newspaper archives in #Trove I found out gliders were called 'flying squirrels' or 'flying phalangers' in the olden days.

These days greater gliders and yellow-bellied gliders are threatened species and we need to save their habitat.
