Spain’s new S-80 submarine was approximately 70 to 100 tons heavier than intended due to a decimal point error made during the design phase. Someone placed a decimal point in the wrong place while calculating the weight, which led to significant issues with buoyancy and surfacing ability—meaning the submarine could potentially go down but not reliably resurface. No one expects the Spanish addition;-)
