Love hearing Sara Thacher and Caro Murphy talk about their work on the Disney StarCruiser. Enjoying some light spoilers (which I won't post here), and it's only whetting my appetite more...

This is a free 2-hour LARP of Romeo & Juliet that lets 8-32 high school students inhabit the world of Shakespeare’s play by teasing apart the ballroom scene at the end of Act 1.

What happens to the rest of the tragedy when something seemingly small shifts in the plot? What happens when particular characters are allowed to have internality?

Written by Lizzie Stark, Bjarke Pedersen, and Allen Brooks.

ARTSEDGE Games: Romeo & Juliet LARP

A Live-Action Role Playing guide based on the ball at the end of Act I of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Students use the pre-determined traits of their assigned characters to improvise within the framework of the scene to discover new interactions, and if there are other possible outcomes to the dramatic narrative. Players agree on a set of rules and a shared reality to collaboratively tell a story using characters, locations, props, costumes, and basic theatrical improvisation – just like performers on stage.

‘Adaptation’ session
Lizzie Stark and Athena Peters

These folks adapt fiction and board games into playable, live-action games.

Stark created a LARP based on the tragedy ‘Phaedra’, and Peters created a game called ‘Romancing Jan’ inspired by emergent role-playing in the card game ‘Marrying Mr. Darcy’
