So I got my 9700 all back together. Bonus points, no left over screws.

And this is the top of the IC-9700 prior to me replacing that nonsense SO239 for 2m. You are in a maze of screws… shhesssh so many screws.
I redid the cable. It looks much better this way. I was mislead by not having a backward pointing SMA on the injection board.
I had forgotten that I wanted to do this mod too (Change 2m connector to type N)

I *think* I have a connector to use but might have to order one. I'll re-route the LBE cable next time I'm in at @n6cta suggestion.
Ok reassembly complete. I will have to wait until after lunch to test.
I’ve always liked taking lots of photos when I work on something like this. So I might just as well put them up here as well! Found the screws to remove and the black foam thing. I moved the foam cover out of the way. I wonder if ICOM attempted some xtal oven here? Not looked at schematic but next is putting the Bodnar board in.
The SMA I need to unscrew is an 8mm . I hate using adjustable wrenches. fortunately I had a socket that fit.
