Dacia Duster challenges asphalt and off-road with hybrid engines and a 4x4 soul.

Mild hybrid, hybrid, bifuel and even a “trifuel” system – combining hybrid technology with petrol and LPG (Hyibrd-G 150 with up to 1,500 km range – are the power options Dacia offers on the third generation of the Duster, whose four-engine range fully complies with EU6e bis regulations. “The CMF-B platform is a fundamental resource for the development of our range, now and in the future,” explains Patrice Levy Bencheton, Director of Product Performance for the brand. “It proves its full potential on the Duster, a vehicle equipped with new electric units that boast the highest level of efficiency and in which all performance figures record significant progress, but that maintains all the appeal and accessibility that have determined its success.”

The entry-level Duster (from €19,900, including VAT and keys) is equipped with the Eco-G 120 LPG, replacing the Eco-G 100 unit. The new engine delivers 20 more horsepower and a range of up to 1,380 km thanks to the two 50-liter tanks (liquefied petroleum gas tanks are installed under the luggage floor, whose capacity remains unchanged). Despite the increase in power, CO2 emissions decrease. Besides the manual gearbox, this engine is also available with an automatic transmission (from €23,450, already in the higher trim level). The Mild Hybrid 140 (48 Volt technology) replaces the 130 variant with declared ranges up to over 18.5 kilometers per liter and CO2 emissions starting from 122 g/km, a decrease of approximately 10% compared to equivalent thermal engines.

Instead, the Hybrid 140 has been replaced by the new Hybrid 155, developed with the four-cylinder 109 hp petrol engine, two electric units (one for propulsion with 50 hp and one starter/generator at high voltage), a 1.4 kWh battery, and the electric automatic transmission. For this system too, in exchange for improved performance, emissions and consumption decrease by 7 (up to 107 g/km of CO2) and 8% (up to 4.6 l/100 km).

Equipped with all-wheel drive and the Terrain Control system, the Duster is able to tackle off-road routes better than before, thanks to “dynamically optimized behavior by the quality of the work carried out by the anti-roll bars” and the increase in vehicle rigidity. The same damping, gear ratio, and steering assist settings have been tuned differently to ensure a “more precise response in various operating conditions.” Five driving modes are provided by the Terrain Control.
