Today's Flickr photo with the most hits: the aqueduct crossing the river Ribble, whilst on the Tolkien Walk.

Sorry for the week's absence. I was volunteer caterer at a residential Summer School for 11-17 year olds, and the long hours in the kitchen, militated against regular posts.

The consequences of demolishing a listed building overnight. That pile of rubble used to be the centuries-old Punch Bowl Inn in Hurst Green, Lancashire.

Developer Andrew Donelan figured it was a done deal and he'd only face a fine. That attitude backfired spectacularly when a UK court ordered him to rebuilt the Inn to the original design, using the original materials.

Stone-by-stone. That's costly karma!

For centuries, the sandstone walls of the Punch Bowl Inn greeted passersby on a quiet English country road.
