#OTD Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey was onvicted of treason at the Guildhall. He had been a friend of Henry VIII's son, Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond and was probably the most accomplished poet in the English language until the emergence of the Elizabethan poets, introducing the Petrarchan sonnet form into English.
