Houston’s renamed sustainability office to report to mayor, continue addressing climate change

The Office of Resilience and Sustainability, focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, no longer exists. Its duties now fall under a consolidated office called the Office of Recovery and Resilience, which reports to the mayor instead of another city department.

The U.S. Department of Energy is giving Houston money to install solar panels and battery storage at a community-serving city facility in a disadvantaged part of town, among other initiatives tied to the city's Climate Action Plan adopted in 2020 under then-Mayor Sylvester Turner.
