Director Edward F. Cline was originally a vaudevillian who began working as an actor and gag writer for Keystone. He’d later go on to on to team up with with Buster Keaton both in films and as a director (Convict 13, The Boat, The Haunted House, etc.) It was his work with Keaton that inspired W.C. Fields to take a shine to his directing work.

@klu9 @greenpepper22 yes! Some early talkies came with sheet music for musical accompaniment and sound effects cues/suggestions. Especially since due to the technology at the time having music & sound effects in a film was both an expensive endeavour and a technological difficulty

Fun Fact: Even as late as 1930 some early talkies still used the occasional intertitle cards (usually due to technological issues and/or artistic reasons)
