Our whole propagation set up is both simple and seasonal - it’s a carport that we put up in the spring and take down in the summer. Noel turned old ladders into the perfect stands for our wood seed trays, which we built out of left over lumber. They’re the best! Sturdy, mobile, reusable, sustainable, easy to stack and clean.

Are you feeling spring vibes too?

There are a lot of fancy ways to make Biochar, but I prefer the simple slash pile method.

We burn slash (dead branches) anyway to reduce hazardous fuels around our home, so why not make charcoal for the garden!?

Lots of people make biochar a science, but I tend to see it more as an art.

🔥 Please burn responsibly.

🫒 Damage control for this young olive tree in the nursery after last week's snow.

Im thankful to notice this before the tree started to dry out so that I could give it my best effort to help it heal!

Praying for you olive baby! 🫒💚🙏🏼

Our power went out last night due to high winds and snow. I’ve been on my feet all day keeping the house warm & cooking in the fireplace. I made Amish poor man’s steak (like Salisbury steak), mashed potatoes & greens in our old cast iron. We have heat, clean drinking water, full stomachs and overall life is good. We are doing much better than many, that lack resources or skills to survive winter without power. #cooking #wawx #homesteadskills
